When you cover up all advertising signs, slogans, pictograms, company names and logos in a street
The US still makes steel for example. It fell compared to the 1960s, but is still at about WW2 levels. That is true for a lot of US manufacturing. The industry is still around, but has not grown since years and automation and falling prices makes them less relevant to the overall economy.
The US actually does do that. The issue is that shipping companies do not actually want to risk the life of their crews.
I would have thought somebody would have offered a life chaning sum to some sailors for the journey. That is entirly possible since oil is above $100 barrel and a very large crude carrier can transport 2million barrels of oil or so. So even with a crew of 30, you can still pay everybody a million for the risk and make insane profit, since oil is nearly free inside the Gulf.

There are something like 100k Israelis who are still alive and survived the Holocaust. That is mostly just due to the Holocaust ending over 80years ago and people die of old age.
Honestly I dislike the constant Holocaust comparisons. They play into Israeli propaganda, as the connection between Israel and Jews is very obvious and Jews were the victims of the Holocaust. That makes Israel look like a victim just defending itself.
