Things me or my parents would do those 40⁰C+ days: Pull down the blinds to block the sun during the day. If the air is considerably hotter outside, don’t open the windows/doors. Wait until there is no difference in temp to do so. If access to water isn’t an issue, once the sun goes down you can hose the exterior of the house, walls and any surrounding concrete/stone surfaces. It will cool it down considerably. If it is really hot I would sometimes put a wet towel on wherever I was feeling the heat the most (usually heads and shoulders/arms). You will need to soak it every hour or so, because it will start to dry and warm up as you wear it. You can sleep like this, too, but you may wake up from the heat under a hot towel that’s nearly dry.

Change your instance. A lot of the content you see will depend on the instance you are in. ML is notorious for politics and I’m leaving it at that. But also keep in mind politics are an important part of life and it’s impossible to fully remove that. Especially with a tense political climate as it is right now.

I think it’s part of human nature to long for some connection, to socialize, to discover new things. We humans have been fantasizing with sentient machines for ages. We have been exploring the possibilities of interacting with other sentient species for millennia. The machine trope is just one more in that category. That’s where the allure is. Of course the trash you are being sold isn’t truly sentient, but people see stripes and call it a tiger. As for what makes it so palatable, for most people, if they see something they recognize and relate to, they find it easier to use. LLMs are in particular very easy to use for this reason. And it’s ok if you don’t like the idea at all. My previous statement was just a generalization, not everyone is equally enamored with the idea of interacting with a different, sentient, and intelligent species.

Essentially as others said, because you need to invest heavily in your gut and metabolism to get enough energy out of grass alone. You don’t evolve into what you want, you evolve into what you can while you are pressured to do so. There is currently no pressure to rely solely on grass, that pressure hasn’t been on us for millions of years. Our foods may be trickier to find but on average they yield more energy compared to grass. But don’t get me wrong. It’s a valid strategy. Our ancestors did have the window of opportunity at some point, and they took it… We were something more like rats back then, the grass eaters niche had room. Grass was everywhere. And our cousins back then adapted and spent practically the whole day foraging for grass in order to get by. But you know what also was everywhere? Trees. And our ratlike ancestors that were more inclined to climb, jump, and spot predators from above found it easier to stick to the omnivore diet. Adapting to trees lets you move into places with less grass… Like jungles and swamps. And while you are there for a couple million years you will have other problems to solve, problems that require wits, sharp vision, and social skills. You don’t have time to forage 18hrs every day and grass isn’t as abundant here anyway. If you don’t rely solely on grass you will probably fare better during winter. Especially during those ice ages. By the time you have grass as an option again you are pretty much an ape and pivoting back to it makes no sense.

We eat the seeds, I presume OP refers to the leaves/blades of grass which are also present in species that aren’t cereals

Fair conclusion, but don’t be so hard on yourself. Honestly as a native speaker these things don’t come across as “rules” for me even though of course they have rules. It’s just the natural and obvious way of using the language. And that’s something very hard to get right if you weren’t raised with that language. In other words, I’ve heard a gazillion people say so many examples of phrases in Spanish since before I have memory, that hearing or seeing something outside of the expected pattern stands out immediately, but I can’t always explain why. It’s unreasonable to expect ever having the same level of fluency with a language you weren’t raised with. I’ve been speaking English half my life and I still screw up sometimes.

Uso “ustedes”, pero por supuesto que sé conjugar vosotros. Tal vez cometo algún error ya que no tengo costumbre de usarlo, pero sí, te lo enseñan en la escuela junto con todos los demás pronombres personales.

Not the person you asked, but a native Spanish speaker myself. The formal way to say “excuse me” (for example to a teacher or boss, or to a stranger on the street if you wish to be polite) would be “disculpe señor/a”, or “discúlpeme señor/a”. You can also remove señor/a and simply say “disculpe” or “discúlpeme” to anyone and it will still carry the same meaning, since the verb in both cases already implies it’s about yourself. The informal way would be “disculpame” or “discúlpame”, although in this case adding señor/a sounds way off. You can definitely add a name though, ie, “discúlpame Shads” and that would be okay.

You are asking whether it is possible to persuade people to do something without persuasion. You can’t, unless you just happen to be wanting them to do something they actually need to do.

Is there anything like a Beholder monster before 1975?

According to Wikipedia, the Beholder is a Dungeons and Dragons original creation and it is copyrighted. Its first appearance was in 1975. In case you are not familiar with these, a beholder is basically a floating eye with tentacles that also have eyes, often able to shoot rays off the eyes. You have probably seen some similar creature type in a myriad other media such as videogames, tv shows and whatnot. Now I’m really surprised something like this only surfaced in the 70s. Is there anything similar in any type of media or culture prior to the 70’s? The only thing that pops to mind is the ancient biblical angels with abstract forms and many eyes, but I’m hoping someone here can show me more and better examples. Or not. I don’t know.
