@gwenbeads@mathstodon.xyz @matthras@aus.social Thank you Gwen, I hadn’t seen her work before. I had tried to do a bit of online image searching, but I don’t think that I had spotted anything really similar. Thanks to you, I now know that the term that I was missing was “bead quilling”.
Some of the stuff that I have done when crocheting through beads did make use of being able to see the thread. But the stuff I was doing most recently involved very thin transparent polyester thread (Coats & Clark). I wish I knew how long the stuff is expected to last before disintegrating. I have heard bad things about nylon fishing line, but do not know if that extends to sewing-grade mono-filament. Hopefully the bead lace will remain together without having to embed it in plastic or something like that.
I took a look at your website/etsy and some of the tiling-type patterns and geometric figures that you have managed while using beads the “proper” way are amazing.
