Because even using AI as a tool and having a human review it still means the code the LLM output could have come from non GPL sources.

I get why they are passing this by though, since you don’t know the provenance of that Stack Overflow snippet, either.

My workflow is usually to add a book to my Want to Read list in Kavita, then on a reader I can go to that list through OPDS and browse just that list. Makes things much more managable assuming I don't spam the list.

Progress sync works fine for me in KOReader with OPDS. Progress Sync Scrobble (to third-parties) is the Kavita+ feature. My understanding was the Kavita+ items are things to do with third-party services and meta data providers that are an API/cost-based service to the dev. That being said I don't use any of those features.

I switched. Kavita is the new hotness.

I found it for comics, but realized it handled books as well as Caliber does, in a modern interface with OPDS support.

I’d disagree with “most messengers” doing that, in my experience, most don’t do it by default. Signal is a pretty rare exception to do so by default. What messenger doesn’t? Signal, WhatsApp, Matrix, Snapchat, Discord, Telegram, etc. I’d say “most” is pretty accurate. No idea what Wechat does, but that’s a whole different story. If you get a push notification on your phone, everything you see in that notification must by definition pass through the push notification service. Also not true. What you “see” could have been retrieved post-notification, as described in the message you responded to. What you see has nothing to do with what goes through the push service and is a full technical inacurracy.

Not true. The push notification for most messengers is a ping with little to no data in it, telling the app to grab messages directly via TLS. That’s how e2e works with push.

If a snap is bundled with it’s own dependencies (the point of snap), those dependency libraries are not loaded into shared memory. Multiple apps that would typically share a loaded dependency must now each load them into RAM.

While I certainly don’t agree with decisions, it’s always interesting to see people mix up “polite” with “not absolutely brutal”. They clearly haven’t studied the history of the Canadian Corp in WWI. All that (illegal now) ferocity is behind the scenes now, as it should be, but being polite and being a capable war machine are two very different things.

Yes and no. Yes, in that this should be obvious and judges should have dismissed immediately. No, in that it going to court sets precedent, so now any future cases can get dismissed quickly. So clogging the courts for a brief time is good, clogging them for as long as it did is bad. (IMO)

Read what the new CEO says, and it doesn’t seem as bad. In the interview, he states that they’ll be adding AI with options, and since they’re not beholden to any one company, the user can choose what is best for them. My guess: A sidebar chat you can disable, which allows you to pick your provider, and an about:config that let’s you customize the URL for local AI. Would I rather time be devoted elsewhere? Yes. Would this be horrible? Nah. That being said, I could be totally wrong.

While true, what actually happened was interesting. Algorithm’s are not inherently bad, afterall. At some point, someone wrote a rule to verify DSO against other tech companies, and trigger an automated short position to correct the market changed from an earnings call. To me, that’s pretty cool. This wasn’t magic LLM AI, this was a smart engineer that programmed a system to discover problems as they arose.
