Not due to this, no... But as a general rule of thumb, devices that are at risk of being stolen or lost should always have full-disk encryption enabled.
If you lose your device, the PIN can be easily be read as it is in plain text in a config file within the Steam directory. FDE would prevent that file from being readable when booting from a USB drive (it can still be relatively easy be bruteforced however).
It's a shame that SteamOS doesn't support LUKS out of the box.
