I'll save my commentary until I've had a chance to read over some analysis. So far, the only people reporting on this seem to be spicy artists ... and a group that thinks this is totally excellent and about time.

Support queer and spicy artists. Fuck Kickstarter and every other company that has already betrayed us for prudes.

The Pope (the current Roman Catholic one, Leo XIV) did a thing like ... a week or two ago and it's making the rounds today because someone noted that he quoted "The twentieth-century Catholic author J.R.R. Tolkien". So it's making the rounds.

As far as popes hailing from Roman Catholicism go, I like Leo XIV more than most popes on offer. Brevity is apparently not his thing.

The Vatican predilection for making exhaustive length numbered lists and using Microsoft Word to format their documents means it's quite trivial to link to almost the exact part of the document. A thing which I did in the link above in case you're disinclined to read all ~36K of it.

Given what I know of Leo, I expect a thorough trouncing of at least the companies and governments involved in our current LLM nightmare.

Considering I'm not a Catholic (and am unlikely to become one any time), I don't expect to agree with much else but we'll see.

Due to reasons, I found myself doing a deep dive on something today which irritates me to no end.

In support of the idea that queer people should hide ourselves so as not to offend "normal people" , the guy referenced a study showing that close to 76% of people on Earth were religious. That statistic was used to support the idea that nearly 76% of people were offended by people being publicly queer.

Even if it was true that 100% of religions were offended by the mere existence of queer people and 100% of religious people were 100% in agreement with that offense, it wouldn't follow that we (queer people) don't have a right to exist outside of the shadows.

It's not true, though. Every religious person is interpreting their religion for themselves. They ignore the parts they don't like and focus on the parts they do like.

And when they do that in a way that builds a better world rather than a worse one, more power to them for that.

If you're such a miserable shit that you've got to build a god just as hateful as you are, you deserve what you get. The rest of us don't deserve the world you've been building, though.

There's no rule saying you can't play a banjo in a metal band.

If you use #Edge — and you probably shouldn’t — don’t use its password management function.

My current recommendation is to use at least two browsers. One for things you log into (I use #Vivaldi for that purpose) and one set to wipe its history on exit (#Firefox or a fork) with an ad blocker (such as Ad Nauseum) configured.

Close the wiping browser between tasks. Let the wiping browser be your default.

The 2+ browser strategy won’t give you privacy but it will lessen the bullshit and slightly decrease your vulnerability to certain types of attacks.
