@ErikaSumner When I think of the names of black people I can recall off the top of my head, without really thinking about it, I get sick all over again. Not just George Floyd, Philando Castille, Mike Brown, Sandra Bland, Michael Stewart. That's off the top of my head, I can't imagine what this is like for people who actually work on this stuff.

The LLMs started this mess, and for a while, the less sleazy tech bros referred to "machine learning", but the siren song of sucker seduction could not be denied, so no matter what someone does with a computer these days, it's "AI".

@Lydie@tech.lgbt There's always an upside to a bubble that bursts, it just takes time to get there. All those GPUs that the techbros spent on will go to nearly zero and people who can actully use them will be able to get them and make something worthwhile.

@KevinMarks I’m starting to think of AI as a guy boiling water on a stove, but convincing suckers (and there are plenty who call themselves investors and bankers) that they are in the early days of developing fusion.

@Gargron@mastodon.social I think there’s some logic to a fee. I think it’s probably closer to 3% than 30%. I might be able to get all the way to 5%.
