I asked Claude to draw a cartoon about an AI steamroller coming towards protesting academics with their feet stuck in cement, but Claude didn't do a good enough job ;-) Happy to make an appearance of the same conference to showcase the advantages of AI for research. Has upped the level in my field.

But is the goal of mathematics to be rewarded, as an individual, and get credit for one's math skills? Maybe this is how it works in maths, but in other fields I think the purpose is to gain knowledge, and if that's the goal then the means are irrelevant. If an LLM finds the cure to cancer, we don't care about how much credit the LLM operator gets...

A transcedental dance with twists and turns. How we used LLMs to prove a really awesome mathematical result, and how the LLMs then pointed out that the work had already been done, and better :-)

The 2025 JASP Contributor Award Goes to Mátyás Bukva, for his implementation of the Plot Builder (based on the tidyplots package from Jan Broder Engler). Congrats!!

Now out: JASP 0.96!

The major innovation is an online module library (inspired by CRAN for R). Not only does this make it easier for external contributors to add their own JASP modules, but users can take advantage of updated modules without having to wait for a new JASP version. This functionality was added in collaboration with the Netherlands eScience Center

26 participants, 17 new modules...the JASP hackathon was a success and we're looking into making it an annual event!

Ten new JASP modules -- or perhaps more?

The JASP Hackathon will take place Feb 16-17 at the eScience center in Amsterdam.

This is our last call for applications. Teams are welcome; support to offset travel costs is available.

@modrak_m@fediscience.org @avehtari@bayes.club The fitting is automatic, isn't it? JAGS returns the posterior samples. Also, the fitting algorithm is used only once, I think?!

@avehtari@bayes.club @modrak_m@fediscience.org Hello Aki. So in JAGS/Stan, if I specify all data as "NA" (missing), the algorithm will draw the missing data values based on the prior, and the resulting "posterior" should equal the prior...is this how a basic version can be implemented?
