Leaving when others are getting fucked is making a stand and having principles. Yay applause.
Going lalalalala and staying on right until *you* get fucked is just whatever. Don't brag please.

"CEO of shoddily coded autocomplete app says it will kill us all and he should get a trillion dollars to stop it."
Basically the same headline repeated 8392 times the past three years, just phrased differently.

I mean yeah? As a PC gamer what are you supposed to use? Fucking… Windows?
I know some people still manage to tolerate paying Microsoft for an operating system that serves popup ads, popunder ads, inline ads, bundles spyware, bundles adware, bundles malware, and literally spies on you. They either manage to filter all that out or tolerate having to spend time turning it off or mitigating it every two weeks/months when an update introduces more of it.
They angrily cope. They say things like “what is so hard about just clicking Close / Ignore on a few buttons!?” when this is pointed out. But they grow fewer and fewer.
Macs are mostly valid but expensive. If work doesn’t pay for one, or you have another big hobby that makes Mac a necessity, buying one for gaming is a bit silly.

If everything on Windows is a vibe-coded web app then everything is going to look like different, feel like shit to use, and perform like shit.
I am happy to report: Windows apps that look different, feel shit to use and perform like shit are already available!
E.g. Teams, the CPU warmer from hell, was rolled out to Windows long ago. It was coded in Electron and couldn’t even integrate with Microsoft Windows’ taskbar popups. They had to fake one by creating a window that moved itself up from below the screen. Did this break when you changed resolution? Yes it did. Did it break when you moved the taskbar? Yes it did. Did it break when- YES IT DID

I mean... Deloitte is mercenary, and hired by the company wanting a passed audit.
They get paid to check pre-agreed spots A, B, and C and keep their eyes closed outside those areas.
A RAM-only server can still send metrics, metadata, "anonymized" metadata...

Agree, the term is misleading.
Talking about hallucinations lets us talk about undesired output as a completely different thing than desires output, which implies it can be handled somehow.
The problem it the LLM can only ever output bullshit. Often the bullshit is decent and we call it output, and sometimes the bullshit is wrong and we call it hallucination.
But it’s the exact same thing from the LLM. You can’t make it detect it or promise not to make it.

An economic bubble isn’t when something is fake and ceases to exist when the bubble bursts.
We use the term when the market is inflated way beyond its value.
A bubble bursting is when people realize the market is inflated way beyond its value and pull out, leaving debt-ridden companies to their debt.
Some go bankrupt, stock prices fall, economy news outlets insist nobody could have predicted this, investments go elsewhere, people are laid off, and the people responsible fail upward to another grift.

Wait, you’re surprised it did what you asked of it?
No. Stop making things up to complain about. Or at least leave me out of it.

I tried the image of this real actual road collapse: www.tv2.no/nyheter/innenriks/…/12875776
I told ChatGPT it was fake and asked it to explain why. It assured me I was a special boy asking valid questions and helpfully made up some claims.
