A friend of mine started a new job today and is frustrated with some of the Google products involved on Mac using VoiceOver. They are usable but certainly not enjoyable. Anyone have any advice? AppleVis really is brilliant for stuff like this.

One of my core beliefs has always been that media and content can be used to educate and share experiences with the world. Few people have embodied that philosophy like David Attenborough, who turned 100 yesterday.

Truly one of the greatest public service broadcasters we’ve seen.

Hopefully, we’ll see quality edutainment content being created long into the future.

Did you know RTÉ has launched a dedicated Irish sign language channel called RTÉ ISL? The new channel is now available to stream live 24/7 on RTÉ Player.

This isn’t relevant to me directly, but I find innovations like this incredibly exciting. Well done RTÉ.

Hopefully in time services like ISL and audio description can be given some serious resources to make these kinds of things sustainable.

Who thought mid role ads during music on YouTube was a good idea? You’re listening to a song, it randomly goes silent and a few seconds later you get a block of ads. That’s crazy behaviour.

@ivan_soto@dragonscave.space absolutely. Although I think in the longer run we need YouTube to up their game here. They should be paying for audio description for their biggest creators. There is no reason for creators like MrBeast or Sidemen not to have audio description on YouTube when there shows on Amazon Prime or Netflix have AD.

I haven’t got a pair of my own but have tried them and set up many pairs in work. Most people I find seem to like them, with the biggest complaint being the battery.

@Mitmee_Pie@tweesecake.social @DavidGoldfield@allovertheplace.ca Fully get that. Both Glide and Solos are risky investments, but in many cases I think people are deciding it’s a risk worth taking. I baught Solos also. They were slightly more expensive than I’d have liked costing €520 to ship to Ireland, so they need to be really good. I love testing for Vision Ireland content in work, but I’ve a high standard as these are expensive devices for people. Hope things stabilised with your job.
