Now you have me downloading 10GB of MP3.com pages so I can go searching for old albums. :D Do you keep those releases separated from your main library (file-wise)? I’m trying to decide if it makes sense to segregate them and manage them completely outside of beets.

I’m finally making a real effort to add beets to my life. I’ve been hesitant because I like what I like and I (mostly) know what I’m doing, you know? I also have a lot of local independent albums that are just not likely to get tagged anyway. But here I am. Yesterday I was able to work through: Implementing my preferred directory structure and naming conventions Adding album art (embedded and in the folder) Embedding lyrics Adding ReplyGain information I use Navidrome as my server and have a collection of about 2000 albums. What are some of your tips for using beets? What cool things are you doing? What should I be thinking about as I go about this?

Now since you have me looking… I installed Watcharr and it’s okay. Has a Discovery section. Easy to add things and mark them watched. But no stats, no integrations. It just seems a little barebones. So I installed Yamtrack. The UI isn’t really as intuitive to me and there doesn’t seem to be a Discover function. BUT I love that it can track books, video games, and others as well. It also has Jellyfin integration. I’m going to live with Yamtrack for a bit and see. It would be great to have a tracking app that also handles media requests. Seerr let’s you build a watchlist, but it isn’t all that helpful or fleshed out.

Looks like there’s also Watcharr if you want to stick with piratey sounding apps.

Eden for Switch and Cemu for Wii U as well. Plus a number of options for the older consoles and handhelds, but Retroarch would cover those.

Another vote for CWA. It's been a year and I can fully remember my reasons for not going with something else, but I tried several and nothing was quite as complete for what I needed. I also don't want or need much for automation. I want to curate my library, there are few authors I'd want to monitor and grab everything from. Then from a metadata front, CWA lets me easily search for and cherry pick bits of metadata.

If you aren't a big consumer of shows and movies, just use the free services if they fill the need for you. Personally, I've purchased hundreds of movies and TV shows on disc and digitally over the years. Jellyfin lets me put them all in one place for my whole family to access. No need to try to remember what service it's on or where the disc is.

Right. Look, I want people moving to more independent services too, but I know that sometimes you have to meet people where they are. I keep Meta accounts because sometimes I need to see family pictures or engage with some random FB group. You can work on getting people to try things and adapt without just going “Fuck you, you do it my way or not at all.”

Have you tried the version from the Nebraska rerelease? So different and good.

Top of my head, it has to be a toss up between Barbie Girl and Cotton Eye Joe. But given time, I’m sure I’d come up with something else. Like I find Lovely Day by Bill Withers to be one of the most annoying songs ever, but I can’t say it’s BAD.

It was cool when I was 14 and didn’t know shit about Bob Dylan or the song. But 35 years on…you just better start stamping your own rank certification, Jack, because it’s just you against your tattered libido, the bank, and the mortician forever, man, and it wouldn’t be luck if you got out of life alive. Anyway, by no means the worst cover ever, but it’s just kind of fucking goofy.

Sticking with the 90s...I imagine a lot of folks picked up the New Radicals *Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too* after hearing "Get What You Give" and we're terribly confused and disappointed that it wasn't all up beat, feel good pop songs. If they stuck with it, they would have found an intelligent and challenging pop album that is still a standout. Which is all a little bit the opposite side of what you asked. But still.

This was exactly the one that first came to mind for me. But then the band leaned HARD into that sound. Which, admittedly was better than the rest of Floored. I think that was the most disappointing part - not that the rest of the album was different, just that it wasn't good. I'll shit on the band and McGrath without hesitation, but they had a good run of catchy, fun pop songs. Shout out to their song "Rivers" from the Scream 2 soundtrack. A great Weezer tribute.

I had started out with CasaOS and ran it for a year or so. Last week, I took some time to move everything out of Casa’s file structure and cleaned up the compose files. For container management, I’m using Dockhand. It’s been great. Otherwise, like most others have said, SSH when I need to do more.
