@lcom@kind.social I built the lego gameboy recently too and was very confused at the early instructions until I realized they were having you build the internals, circuit board locations, etc, even though they're not remotely visible when finished. Quite cool, yeah. I love that it has several fiddly bits that move around like power switch and the buttons and such.

@mo @vagina_museum I mean, they did. They asked her if that supply would be sufficient for any contingency. And everyone dunks on them for the "hur dur, so many for 6 days!" stuff, but NASA plans for worst-case scenarios and sends astronauts up with lots of extra supplies in case they get stranded up there regularly.

@MLE_online@social.afront.org This is basically the same way that the "your brain develops to adult level at 25" claim got traction. One paper did research on people, with a max patient age of 25, and showed their brains were developing the entire time. Another cited it as "until age 25, the brain is still developing" and hundreds of papers since repeated that claim. Was only recently that actual tests of 26+ year olds were done and, surprise surprise, their brains are /also/ still developing.
