I think that living as a trans woman for long enough will naturally draw you to a lot of the same conclusions but having it all splayed out and named in front of you is reaaaaaally nice. That's not to say I haven't learned or been made aware of anything new though, there are a couple things in there about to transphobia's relationship to anti-femininity that really made my head spin.

Been reading Whipping Girl by Julia Serano, very good so far! I expected it to be a bit more dense but in the introduction Serano explicitly states she wrote it so lay-audiences could understand as well and frankly I think that was a good decision. For context this was the book that coined the term transmisogyny.

And that's interesting because the pre-existing ways for homo sapiens to show what they're feeling like facial expressions of tone of voice are things autistic people generally struggle with. I wonder if that yearning for other social tools comes from frustrations with the ones they were born with.

Something I don't see very often in discussions of Mother 3 is that it's a phenomenally *paced* game, on top of everything else.
Earthbound is like, in the top fifth percentile of games but it suffers from an unforgivably lethargic pace that only loosens up two thirds of the way through.
Mother 3, on the other hand, hits the ground running with its first chapter and never loses steam. It's hard to top the energy of "Cowboy vs Robot Dinosaurs" and yet it DOES, over and over again, pumping the brakes to let the narrative build but never enough that it starts to feel bloated. What a fantastic game.
