I moved recently and have been opening boxes. Saw a house centipede scurry by, then later found it near a puddle in the bathtub. "Aww, it was thirsty!" Maybe stuck in a box during the move and happy to be loose again.

Began to worry if it won't find a mate in my new apartment. Went to Wikipedia to learn more about them. THEY LIVE 3 TO 7 YEARS?? Bawling now. This is my pet. What if there aren't enough bugs and spiders here for it to eat??

I watch sports and unfortunately see quite a few commercials. This one is sad to me: a caricature of a teenage femme "going through a phase." Someone behaving like this might be realizing that men, as a group, are pretty terrible. She might be experiencing gender-based violence. There are any number of reasons she is feeling bitterness, distrust, and anger toward her father.

I hate anything that paints teenagers as needing to be "tolerated" rather than understood and supported.

I've moved a lot in my life (over 40 different places), and it always takes me a long time to unpack and organize. Here's something I just realized: Whatever flow I had in my previous space cannot simply be recreated, because this space has a *different shape.* The rooms are different sizes and in different places. I'm not just an ADHD mess (well, that too), I'm trying to figure out how this space even works, how to get it to function. Of course that's gonna take some time 😓

As an #exvangelical, it is a huge deal that not a single person has wished me happy Easter today (or tried to initiate the "He is risen / He is risen indeed" thing). Feeling really fucking happy and proud of my life choices. My nervous system is so much calmer today than it was 20 years ago.

Please don't ruin this by wishing me a happy Easter lol 😆

I love the lack of algorithm here (like deeply and truly). It feels amazing to not be part of a massive Conflict And Clout Engine. But I do miss great posts sometimes, from accounts I follow and enjoy, just because I'm not looking at that precise moment. Are there any Mastodon tools that show you certain posts you missed? The criteria could be 1) accounts you follow 2) whose posts you've liked or boosted before 3) whose current post has at least 3 likes or boosts. Something like that?

Yes the U.S. has a terrible president but the very role of president guarantees eventual terribleness. When you create a powerful position, it's just a matter of time before the worst kind of person attains it, and by then all your precious checks and balances have eroded as well
