@huff@mastodon.social Apparently, also depends on type of Mastodon you're hunting & how long it's co-evolved w/ humans. It's thought elephants & humans co-evolved over millions of yrs in Africa & instinctively fear humans. In New World, woolly mammoths didn't co-evolve but only interacted only in the last 10-20K years. As a result, some researchers believe woollies, being huge, did not instinctively fear humans, and would foolishly wander into human camps, fight back rather than run away, &c. Big mistake.
