@shac I suppose the fact that it's unreadable due to the white text over a fading beige-to-white background under Apple glass is why there's no alt text.
[ A social media post saying "to commemorate alan dye moving from apple to meta, here's one of his best quotes:
"Design is not just what it looks... Design is how it... - Alan"
The left side of the image is an Apple rainbow, the right a washed-out tree with a huge white-gold lens flare in the middle, making half of the quote unreadable.]

@LinuxAndYarn @shac The reason there's no alt text is because they don't add alt text

And most of the joke is about Apple's "Liquid Glass", which is good for making things more difficult to look at.
With this image, half of the text fades away to a hazy indistinct white.

@LinuxAndYarn @shac seems like you’ve gone pretty far in writing that missing alt text. I’m sure I wouldn’t be the only one who’d appreciate the rest of it. Hehe.

@TwodpadsDown Did they actually change the thumbnail, or is this just an edit for the bit?
Edit: answering my own question: it's the first! https://www.theverge.com/news/684321/no-more-liquid-ass

alt text:
Apple's original thumbnail for the "Introducing Liquid Glass" video on YouTube, as shown when not playing.
Some boring graphical elements, and the title as 3 words of text.
(It has since been edited, so that all the text avoids the play button.)
YouTube's play button exactly covered up the "Gl" in the word "Glass", making it read like "Liquid ass".

The quoted image depicts a stylized arc of a rainbow (with green oddly on the inside) with an overexposed forest scene behind. Over the rainbow is a liquid-glass lozenge, with white text inside that can't be read except over the rainbow arc:
Design is not what it looks-
Design is how it-

@Two9A @shac addition for context: the rainbow is a real structure on the Apple campus in Cupertino.

@Two9A @shac Addition: the picture itself has rounded edges and the liquid-glass lozenge inside of it has rounded edges with a way larger radius.

@shac I'm not sure whether this is made more or less hilarious by the fact that the quotation is actually from Steve Jobs, not from Alan Dye.

Yeah you nailed the “graphic” design but you forgot about everything else … like text, font color and size?😹

@shac tonthe people who are missing the Alt text. You miss only half the text bcs the other part is 100% unreadable
#AltText for you:
A Microblog post from user juanbuis:
TO commemorate Alan dye moving from Apple to Meta, here's one of his best quotes:
Image of a rainbow with large white parts underneath. The text in a close to invisible Apple glass UI dialog Box reads incompletely:
Design is not just what it look...
Design is how it...
Alan...
