In Czechia we are getting health warnings as part of the weather warnings system...

Past four years have been wild. Going from people caring about SBoM to let machines generate code.

After looking at my ACE score (7) and what are my probabilities of (bad) outcomes, I'm doing fairly well. I'm not dealing with addiction, my finances are not a disaster. I do have some health issues, like agoraphobia (that's likely a Czech issue), USA induced anxiety and weight related stuff. There are hard days when I have to deal with my trauma but I don't feel like I've ran a marathon anymore. So I'll take that as a win and progress.

I will not disagree with someone on the internet.

First half of Civil War (2024) feels weird. It's probably because in the past four years I've seen a bit too many drone hits on video. It's closer to a zombie movie.

Why we value more PRs and commits over community building? Is it because it’s women’s work and LoCs are men’s work?

*sigh* I think I have had enough of LinkedIn for today. AI Bro tried to explain to me that expecting responsible to turn up to an open house (or open source project) is unrealistic. When librarians in Sweden forgot to lock the building, people didn't cause mayhem. FFS it's 2026 and one shouldn't have to argue with people not to destroy common good. Fuck! It's 2026 and one has to argue with people not to destroy common good.

I didn’t know that my choice of glasses would be a statement and not just annoyance avoidance of wearing heavy glasses. I really hate heavy glasses, I tried to get to used to them and failed https://mastodon.social/@danyork/116511753802210926

Is anyone else concerned that XZ utils like attacks might happening more often in the near future because reckless LLM users are going to cause open source maintainer burnout?

No, I will not be dissecting the crap that Anthropic dumped. I'm not paid for that and I have better things to do. Yes, writing with pen in my journal is more important than dissecting what someone slopped out.

Companies should ask if it’s ok to send a Happy birthday message. Last time I was eager to celebrate my birthday even in a limited way, my aunt sent me a text, that my uncle died the week before…

🆕 post: When to start design system? Before my current job I've been working on a design system for almost three years. At my current job I'm back to writing apps and I'm starting to have thoughts. https://www.sarahgebauer.com/post/when-to-start-design-system/ #design #designSystem

Whenever I see who someone tries to microwave water to make tea, my first reaction is to look for Holy Water. Microwaving water to make tea should be considered blasphemy.

I've been left behind by not working with React as my main framework. So far it worked ok. I can sleep at night because the projects weren't evil.

I think I need to stop reading productivity books that mention imagining what would be in my eulogy. I've finished Feel Good Productivity by Ali Abdaal. I'm really grateful that I've chosen pilcrow tattoo on my forearm instead of a semi-colon. Time to start new paragraph but today feels hard.

I think I’ll have to channel inner Digby Tatham-Warter to survive these times. Success will be figuring out what’s the equivalent of defeating Nazi armoured vehicle with an umbrella and doing that.

To be honest, assholes on StackOverflow may not have been great but they were sort of fenced in there. With "AI", the fences are gone. So they are being assholes about "AI" everywhere else.
