i'm trying to figure out which linux distros i would consider for a new server setup, and i have some requirements: - release model (LTS specifically is not a concern) - ZFS kernel module in the repos (building locally or not doesn't matter to me) - no systemd - as minimal as possible and the choices i have seem to be... essentially just Alpine Linux? Debian has systemd and feels kinda bloated, the same goes for all Red Hat distros, Gentoo is rolling release, i prefer to avoid...

treating my VMs and LXCs as pets isn't really doable anymore, but I also don't want to treat them as cattle because all tools that do that just suck. Ansible is a pain so I had a look at saltstack but that doesn't even support Alpine. I have to admit using OCI containers has crossed my mind now, just because the rest is so unbearably bad. Then again, so are OCI containers, I can't stand them. So is the only currently viable solution for me to move everything to...

Hello! After almost 3 years in my current job I'm looking for a new job around Stuttgart (hybrid, or fully remote in Germany)! I am Thomas, 27 years old and looking for a job in embedded Linux software engineering. Languages I use are mostly C and Rust, but I'm open to learn/use other languages. I am interested in embedded Linux, Linux kernel driver development (C and Rust), low-level application development, and Linux BSP development (i.e. Yocto). I use and occasionally contri...
