downtime will start now, i'm guessing it's not gonna take more than like 2-3 hours until the server is up again, but no guarantees.

downtime is over, everything is up again. i ended up taking the server outside to clean it and put the SAS HBA in and connected the SATA drives to it. for some reason the PCIe HBA was recognized perfectly fine, but the SATA drives connected to it were not recognized at all. No logs or anything to even start debugging the issue. reseating the card and cables, and switching the port the cables were plugged into didn't change anything, so i decided to rollback to the previous setup again. so meh, not happy :/
