I received at least 12 emails (not counting notifications) from our school this week, and of the FIVE I received on Tuesday, I missed one sentence: my oldest is being given an award at 9 am tomorrow. I don't think people realize the wall of noise parents receive PER child PER week. I was already debating giving one of my Clankers it's own email account (read-only) but this is probably going to be what drives me over the edge.

๐Ÿค” Iโ€™m happy to see so many good CalVer discussions going on. It inspired me to add `/version.txt` endpoints to a bunch of my projects, along with a few JSON REST endpoints. I already expose the CalVer version in the footer, but this lets me skip parsing HTML and quickly check whether a deploy was successful. Coolify is great, but itโ€™s even better when I can write simple tooling to verify that everything is running the version it should be.

RE: https://mstdn.social/@rysiek/116442467501247235 I see this same point made every week on Mastodon. Just saying one last week about a country being 100% sustainable from renewables. The Biden administration brought it up and advanced the US too before it was dismantled by the next administration change.

๐Ÿค” I'm not sure why I never did this sooner, but I started adding a doctor.py script in almost all of my projects. โœจ This can be a Django management command, but commonly a Typer/Click sub-command which does a quick sanity/config check that everything is wired up. ๐Ÿ”ฅ It has saved me hours while troubleshooting dev and production environments over the last few weeks. โœ… I even noticed our ops starting to use it and post the output as proof of work, which saves everyone time.

๐Ÿค” I keep forgetting to blog about this, but I was "How to use Django's ORM with FastAPI" over a DOZEN times at PyCon US. Django can already handle this. I suspect Django's lack of having a good REST story in our docs has fueled this question and assumption about Django. When I search the Django docs for "REST" and then "PHP," I get more *relevant* hits for PHP than our default REST story. ๐Ÿค” Maybe a good start would be a...

I keep seeing posts from people backing off their UV + PIP updates by a week, and I'm curious about the adverse effects of waiting on security updates vs. installing them. Take Django, which has very few dependencies https://github.com/django/django/blob/main/pyproject.toml#L9-L12 If you run a large-traffic website and know a security update has been released, I can't see why you shouldn't updat...
