After checking my Logbook of the World account, I saw that I have a QSL from AA6CV, a very large (25A) club station that was in the recent Field Day. Not many will upload logs to LOTW after Field Day, so this is a nice surprise. @ai6yr @W6KME @K6KH

Nice ISS pass around sunset tonight. Heard stations from US west coast across to Ohio, including @W2AYZ who called me & then a couple of others called him. ID-5100 & Elk, in front of the house. Video showing when W2AYZ called me followed by two others calling W2AYZ, starting around 4:27 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qegoZ7VcJo&t=267s

With one of my QSOs from the ISS pass earlier tonight being confirmed in Logbook of the World so far, I am now at 27000 QSLs in that system. LOTW confirmation rate holding at just over 50%, not bad...

The Icom ID-5200A received its FCC certification today, FCC ID AFJ453700. Certification covers the receiver under FCC Part 15, customary for amateur radio transceivers. The other FCC ID on the label is for the Bluetooth/WiFi (2,4 & 5 GHz) module in the radio.

Just tried my iRadio UV-98 PLUS on a couple of ISS passes this afternoon. It hears well, down to treetops/rooftops around my house. Made contacts on both passes, including @K6KH on the western pass a few minutes ago. Not full-duplex, but it works...

It has been reported in the past couple of days that the SO-125 (HADES-ICM) satellite has reentered the Earth's atmosphere. A shame, as it had been a good little FM (and D-Star) satellite. This was my last SO-125 contact, just over a week ago with K6CED in southern California using FM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPhT1X88krY

This was my original amateur radio license from 1977. It was issued on this day many years ago. Took a few days for it to arrive at my mailbox...

Big changes to XE amateur licensing may be coming... Proposal with new regulations, allowing for foreign hams to apply for licenses, plus new XE4 & XE5 call areas on the Mexican mainland. New rules & forms etc. (in Spanish) are in the Propuesta Regulatoria.pdf link at: https://portal.crt.gob.mx/ConsultaPublica/Detalle/4

@HopelessDemigod I'd like an XE call, too. XE2/WD9EWK was a bit on the long side when I operated down there in the past, but that was the only option unless I gained Mexican citizenship to qualify for a proper XE license & call. It was fun being the DX - even if I was in sight of the US border fence. Canadian licenses are easier, except that you have to be in Canada to take exams, have a Canadian mailing address, & call sign prefix must be in the province/territory of t...

On the way to the office tonight, I worked an SO-50 pass around 0430 UTC from a grocery store's parking lot in north Phoenix/DM33. AT-D890UV & Elk. This was a 65-degree pass over the western and southern sky. Still enjoying the new radio for FM sats...

On my way to the office tonight, I stopped at the Phoenix park on the DM33/DM43 line to work a nice SO-50 pass around 0230 UTC. Worked stations from Alaska to Mexico City, along with a couple CONUS stations and one from western Canada in between. Still had some light as I set up for the pass, but it was dark during the pass. Still fun!
