Now do FOX News. - At 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the broadcast of the Hungarian public television was suspended. The message displayed on the screen reads: “Public media should not lie. We apologize for having done so for many years! Public media is currently being transformed to ensure that in the future, it remains trustworthy and independent News services are temporarily suspended. Please stay with us!” https://telex.hu/english/2026/07/07/hungarian-public-media-goes-off-air #Politics

Them: It’s wild how, culturally, nobody wants to be seen wearing a red colored hat anymore. Me: I don’t blame them. Who wants to accidentally be associated with Ruby on Rails?

For those not familiar with this area, making Columbus Circle the meetup spot today was more meaningful than simply route logistics. That skyscraper reflecting sunlight in the background is the Trump Hotel at 1 Central Park West. #NYC #NoKings #AltText #Photography

UCLA won their first NCAA women’s basketball championship 🏀🏆 …the last time this university was in the news was when they settled a $6+ million lawsuit for allowing rampant antisemitism on campus. So yay for image progress I suppose. https://variety.com/2026/tv/news/ucla-first-ncaa-womens-basketball-win-south-carolina-1236709022/

I visited a friend’s new apartment, and the signage from a bodega on the street brightly illuminates their bathroom. Instantly reminded me of the Kenny Roger’s Chicken red neon sign episode of Seinfeld that drove Kramer nuts. #NYC

With lead times of 16-18 weeks for a custom Mac mini build, I am assuming there will be a M5/M5 Pro update sooner and this is meant to dissuade orders in the meantime. #Apple

RE: https://typo.social/@victor/115397916879850582 This No Kings protest last October was absolutely massive. You can tell organizers learned a lot from that because the planning around tomorrow’s event makes much more sense logistically. Getting the line going took quite a long while last time. There are now more than a dozen meetup places for different contingents (climate, healthcare, women, etc) to merge with the main march. There is also a larger area being dedicated to accessibility need...

RE: https://typo.social/@victor/114983179611331954 I photographed ‘Dinosaur’ the pigeon back in August of last year. It’s typical for this spot to have a rotating art installation, and this is the first time I can recall community pushback over removal to make way for a new art piece. I suppose if anything was left permanently, the pigeon is quintessential New York City vibes. Anytime I am in the area I see a crowd of tourists waiting to take a photo with it. 🐦🎨👨🏻💻 https://gothamist.com/news/pet...

It’s wild how dismissive so many people are about the cost of gasoline because “I don’t drive so it doesn’t impact me.” As if you don’t consume goods which are transported using fuel? Lol. For every $2 per barrel price increase it results in 1¢ per gallon at the gas pump, and every 50¢ increase at the gas pump results in ~0.6% increase in inflation which affects everybody. It sounds like an insignificant amount, but those <1% changes to inflation are wildly impactful. 🛢️👨🏻💻 #USPol #Politic...

Finally beginning to see more NaviLens placards placed around subway stations in the city, just saw new ones at Columbus Circle station today. Obviously blind and partly sighted people will benefit the most, but they can also be used for providing alternative language guidance too. 💜🚇 https://www.navilens.com/en/ #NYC #Accessibility

You’d think being given a limited scope of knowledge like a programming language would be ideal for a language model to excel at. The human element ends up proving how essential it is because writing efficient code and algorithms requires deep intuition about logic. Maybe it will eventually get there, but at 20x the footprint compared to writing the code yourself. For now I use Claude where it does excel, writing my unit testing. 🛠️👨🏻💻 https://beige.party/@mayintoronto/116201980138310603
