It’s time to nuke my Reddit account. This is kind of difficult for me tbh, I’m the mod of a 2 million strong major hobby sub, the account has a lot of good history, it used to be a fun place. But now it’s just a capitalist extraction tool. It’s no longer healthy or beneficial to support it or give them any energy.

There&#39;s something satisfying about having a real #Debian #Linux desktop on my new Thinkpad. It feels so much simpler and more straightforward to manage than some of the Debian-derivatives I&#39;ve been using. I was on Pop!_OS for the longest time, on both a laptop and my main desktop, and it was solid, but the lack of updates and focus on Cosmic has really taken away from having a solid reliable and predictable desktop experience (sadly). Do you habitually pick a mirror for #Debian or just use the default? I can&#39;t help but pick the MIT CSAIL mirror. I have to think it helps being down the street and all.

The biggest challenge in #OpenSource #UX design is convincing developers that not everything needs to be customizable. “Make it customizable” is slang for “make the user design the UI themselves.” Yes, there are times users desire to design their interface; but they are rare and generally fairly self-evident. That very normal menu with some options people disagree about is not one of them.

Dang I never knew how important this was, but #PSA: never use tap water in an ultrasonic #humidifier. It aerosolizes every single component including minerals and treatment chemicals. Distilled water only.
