Growing up I was repeatedly warned about peer pressure to try drugs. Which for me happens to fall into the same level as sinking in quick sand or disappearing into the Bermuda Triangle or having a piano dropped on my head. You know, things that I was led to believe would be a far bigger problem than they actually are. But this AI stuff is relentless. "C'mon just try it one time" "You don't know what you're missing" "Just...

"Once I thought, perhaps I shall be free. I did everything correct, or thought thereof as I reentered the shell. The ghastly visage of... Vim... no longer able to be seen. To be present. Or appear so. But still, the fear. It lingers. And the ever present question remains. 'What if, I am still inside?'" #microFiction

I'm in waiting mode to hear back from people on like 4 different things right now and I just need somebody to give me an update even if it's just "still working on it" cause its getting really hard to get my mind to focus on anything else at the moment : /

I'm considering using an e-reader to keep reading my novels at work to make transport easier, but there's a few problems : / 1. I like reading a physical copy of a book 2. I am not buying an eBook for $20 when I already have the physical book 3. It seems I can't check out the ebook I'm reading right now from my local library because apparently placing a limit on how many "copies" of the ebook that can be checked out at the same time is a system that makes total sense...

I've been waiting for the last 3 weeks to receive an email notification that the other party has completed their part so I can move forward to the next steps of a specific process and still nothing. I feel like I'm stuck in a perpetual waiting mode 🙁 #actuallyAutistic

I've always loved reading but for the past 10/15+ years I just mostly... Haven't read. I gave Dad a novel a couple of months ago and after he read it he brought it back to me so I could read it. I read it about a month ago and that kick started me reading again. I've read 10 novels in the last two weeks. Talking to Dad today, he told me that the book I had given him made him rediscover his love of reading, and in the last two weeks he's also read a dozen novels. #reading #boo...

Just got back from a fantastic ride! First time riding around the city without needing to get somewhere. Beautiful sunny morning, all the walkers and runners on the trails super pleasant and saying hi. Nods and waves from other bikers. Everyone was super friendly except for the asshat in a SUV that wouldn't let me cross at a crosswalk even though I activated the crossing lights. Such a more "alive" vibe versus the car areas of the city. Who wouldn't want that? #bikeTo...

For those who need to hear this... privacy is built on consent. The only data you can consent to use is your own. If you have any data from another person, you do not have permission to use that data in any way you see fit without that individuals ~ explicit ~ consent. I'm not even talking broadly here about big tech and EULA's, I'm talking fundamentals. If person A asks you for person B's phone number, you do not give it to them without asking Person B first. ie consent!...

Pretty much guaranteed that if I make a typo in a message or other written item of importance, it'll be right at one of the words that will completely change the meaning of what I had intended to say (ie 'if' to 'of', 'of' to 'on', etc etc.)

I bought some new tires yesterday for my bike, but alas it's going to be awhile before I can install them. I'll need to remove the brakes before I can take the wheels off, so this job might be moved to upgrades over the winter : / #bikeTooter

Should I have used mitered corners on these panels? Yes. Do I care? No Sure it would have reduced some bulk in the corners of the panels, but it sits well enough in the pants leg when it's sewn on that I don't care. This is a personal project to add some protective panels to my riding pants (front and back) to try and prevent tearing (in the pants or in my leg) if my foot slips on my mountain bike pedals (flat pedals with studs IYKYK). Three more to sew on! #claireMakes #sewing

In my job I often have to visit data closets that are small and/or otherwise do not have anywhere to lay my laptop while I’m working. I made a lightweight portable shelf that I can hang on the back of a data closet’s door (or any other surface I can attach the hooks too). It’s also height adjustable : ) I still have to round off the corners of the shelf and soften the edges and get some different colour paracord so I can easily tell the front lines from the back but proof of concept it works!

I could be wrong about this... but perhaps having an emergency alert system meant to broadcast information that's so absolutely vital that you must read it... should give you more than exactly ONE chance to read it before taking the alert away with no notification history after you reflexively hit "OK" to stop the annoying sound...

Added a new test switch stack on my desk at work and didn't take down the network! Note: With the protections we have in place and my growing confidence in that I do actually know what I'm doing, "taking down the network by plugging in a switch" is an unlikely event. Buuuuuut spanning tree updates and broadcast loops are a thing so still gives me pause thinking I might have missed something in my config

I've gotten so many free things over the years just by being nice by default. Little things like putting "I hope you have a wonderful day! : )" into the special instructions field on an order. Or remembering someone who served me before in a restaurant and asking them how they're doing. I don't want or expect anything from being nice. My reward is knowing that it might brighten someone's day, even if only for a moment. Receiving free stuff i...
