  Dry leaves scrape along the path, your name, almost, then gone. Heat sits in the dirt, unmoving, a version of me that thought staying meant something. A magpie watches from the fence, the last time I felt certain slips out of reach. The river moves past rock without pause, all the waiting I mistook for patience. Wind lifts the branches, lets them fall, something in me still doesn’t know when to leave.

  I attended a poetry event at yet another inaccessible venue tonight. My support worker and I trekked up a flight of stairs with a break in the railing, stepped over cables running across the floor at the top, and navigated pillows scattered across the floor for extra seating in front of the performance area.   12 to 13 hours a day doom scrolling and watching reels on facebook not getting to sleep until 2am isolating myself in my apartment telling people i’m not ok being told to keep my chin up how the fuck am I supposed to do that?
