#Naqi neural earbuds will let you control things using brainwaves and/or micro-gestures. If so, they could be revolutionary for anyone unable to use their voice or body to control their tech, smart home, and such: https://www.tomsguide.com/ai/i-just-tried-earbuds-that-let-me-control-things-with-my-mind-and-it-could-be-a-game-changer-for-accessibility #CES2025

Things I have learned whilst in China... the Surf Shark Windows application is largely inaccessible with a screen reader, the Mozilla VPN application isn't much better, but the Tunnel Bear application is really very good indeed. #accessibility #privacy #security

Spent the afternoon sitting in the garden in the sunshine. There might have been a G&T involved. It was glorious!

In November the UK Government promised to remove certain levies and obligations from fuel bills and this comes into effect on 1 April, saving the average household about £120 a year. Octopus Energy has a good explaination here: https://octopus.energy/blog/april-2026-price-cap-updates/ #energy #CostOfLiving

Today I was introduced to the traditional Yorkshire apple pie made with Wensleydale cheese. Oh. My. Goodness. I need to lie down and not eat again until Thursday 😊 😋

It's been quite the weekend... the oven stopped working, the new exercise bike turned up, there are now Basil and Thyme seeds in the hydroponics thingy in the kitchen, PerlBod excavated several layers of his tShirt drawer, Sunday lunch with family (including the aforementioned Yorkshire apple pie with Wensleydale cheese), and a good chunk of my next conference talk (for All Day Hey!) is in much better shape than it was a few days ago! Oh, and the sun's out 😎

As a T1 Diabetic who's unable to use an insulin pump (because there are no #accessible ones available), the possibility of a gene therapy injection once every few years instead of an insulin injection once every couple of hours, is mighty interesting. https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/gene-therapy-be-studied-treating-type-1-diabetes-2026a10009xh?st=fpf&icd=login_success_gg_match_fpf&scode=msp&socialSite=google&form=fpf

It seems that GAIN (formerly Nomensa) and TPGi have decided to remove all the posts I wrote on their respective blogs, going back to 2002. The Internet Archive Way Back Machine is not the most accessible thing to use, so if anyone has any bright ideas about how I could retreve the contents so I can republish, I'd be glad to hear them.

Take Action: Defend the Internet Archive https://blog.archive.org/2025/04/17/take-action-defend-the-internet-archive/ "At a time when digital information is disappearing, being rewritten, or erased entirely, the tools to preserve history must be defended—not dismantled." I've signed the petition.

Spent the afternoon creating IFTTT applets and a Windows script to detect when I'm in a Zoom/Teams call and toggle my old radio style "On air" lamp on my desk on/off accordingly, so PerlBod knows when I'm in a meeting or not 🎤 😊

So, skinny jeans are a thing? Again? Did we learn nothing the first time?
