Yep. Did it again. Couldnt have done it without this excellent guide, which is a write-up of a just as excellent YT video. This guy delivers and I really enjoyed setting this up yesterday: Fedora, btrfs, snapper, luks2 encryption. Obviously I changed something and used the Cosmic desktop for this experiment. It&#39;s Wednesday here in Danang, time to get the sundries out there! Hot off the press: - The latest Librewolf (according to their git updated 3 hrs ago) - Brave Origin of course - A new addition: Vivaldi! There is an excellent Sbo pkg for that, made by one of the Vivaldi maintainers. But if you just want an installable Slackware pkg, you can find it in this repo; I switched back to Vivaldi myself also. As a consequence Brave-Origin will be discontinued by me at the end of June 2026....

Dream scenario. Whilst everyone is gloating over the new Nvidia RTX laptop, everyone also forgets the previous flop of the Arm powered laptops was not on the hardware, but bcs of the lack of decent software to run on it. It&#39;s close to 2028 now and I pick one up for around 500 bucks. And put Slackware ARM on it 😝 #slackware

Think I&#39;ve gone through 4 kernel updates in a week (7.0.4-7) on Gentoo and Slackware. All went without any notable hitch. We should be grateful and happy with such responsible and dedicated maintainers among us 👍🏻 I certainly am 🙏🏻 #gentoo #slackware

The unspeakable has happened. I&#39;ve installed Aeon, the immutable Gnome by OpenSuse. Although KDE and WM&#39;s (dwm, mango) are at the core of my nerdiism, that ThinkPad deserved something else. Can&#39;t have an opinion without actually using it. First impressions: clean, no fluff. Very good security (TPM encryption et al). This can go many ways. Just bcs my bootmanager y&#39;day decided not see my new initramfs, I reinstalled Gentoo, with LUKS. All good. And bcs I&#39;ve actually never used it, I&#39;ll be putting dwl on it today. There will be joy and pain, I am sure. So I stacked the fridge already. Better be prepared 🤣 🍻

I am starting to worry. Dwl installed just fine, I compiled it from source. Learned how-to and applied the specific wlroots version in Gentoo. Applications I need are there. Five patches applied, all good. Even got noctalia-shell running. The project has been revived and a lot of patches have been updated to the latest version in the last month. I stop tweaking now. Have to end the weekend on a high. Beer is cold. More next week! #gentoo #dwl

Yep, the odd one out. I downloaded Brave Origin (on Linux it&#39;s free) and made a Slackware pkg of it. Even opened a repo to share, but I&#39;ll have to upgrade my Codeberg to upload files with a size over 100Mb. Fair enough, another to do. I&#39;ll be back. #slackware #braveOrigin

I'm shuffling slackbuild files, .tgz files, colorschemes and what have you around on that USB. All the time the NAS under my desk is laughing at me. To get rid of Synology I have another stick with OMV ready, for 2 weeks now. I will miss her, but it's good my SO will visit her family the upcoming weekend 😜

Pt. 2 of the Gentoo install report. There was a bit of functionality lacking, so i decided to switch profile (from barebone to desktop OpenRC), which is pretty straightforward. My 6.8 of dwm was pretty vanilla, only all required patches were there, so i've started on editing the config.def.h, also good. Geek speak: today, Labor Day, we are all free here. What did I do? Reinstall Gentoo, openrc, uefi, xfs, encrypted rootfs and using ugrd as initramfs. Making notes about that now slowly turns into a personal quick reference guide for such an install. I&#39;ve done around 20 Gentoo installs so far, always reinventing the wheel. Many, many ah yes moments 😂 Installing xorg et all now (somehow I didnt dare to go the xlibre way yet), it has been a great day, very well spent! #gentoo #dwm #archla...
