  I remember during Trump's first run the Conservative Dad class was all "I'm voting for him because he's a businessman and that means he understands how to fix the economy." And Trump is hardly the only or even the first person to appeal to Conservative Dads in this specific way. But by now can we just put the idea to bed? Turns out knowing how to get wealth for yourself is literally the opposite of knowing how to make sure that everyone else can get access to wealth.

  Last night was a massive win for Trump in Indiana and a real blow to the idea that we might be able to correct the course of the general assembly's rightward drift. There's no sugar-coating it. This primary was important. Next legislative session is going to be a bloodbath for anyone the administration has in their sights.

  I don't peak at a candidate's social media to learn their stated position on the issues. Public positions are easy to find, easy to declare and always subject to change. I do it to learn if they possess the discernment, wisdom and forbearance that are prerequisite to earning my vote. In 2026 you don't need to look far to see why I feel those qualities aren't negotiable.

  Marion County early vote turnout numbers are more than *double* where they were at this time in the last two primary elections.   Dem primary turnout #s are a great sign for the general here in Indiana! Many counties seem to be far outpacing previous years in turnout and a few (Tippecanoe and Hamilton for example) are currently averaging more Dem ballots than Rep ballots for the first time in decades. Let's bring that same level of energy to the general election even if our fav candidate doesn't emerge from the primary, huh?

  You know ... you can have a campaign that embraces sanity without throwing people under the bus. I'd love to see candidates run hard on the value of strengthening basic democratic principles like checks and balances, and all of the other core elements of a functioning government we've turned away from. It can be a patriotic message that appeals to a wide variety of people. It also has the advantage of being correct.

  These are the races I'm watching today. What happens in these Republican Senate primaries will determine whether Trump can reach into state elections and drive the #Indiana supermajority rightward.   Having a morning of overwhelm at the number of things that are *worthy* of my attention as an activist. I always try to concentrate on the fights that I am best placed and best prepared for. It's just increasingly hard to keep my eye on what that is, and where one flight begins and the other ends.

  Here's where Newsom gets it very wrong and why I'm mad. I don't need you to express views that are in 100% alignment with me. I just need you to agree that purposefully targeting any group of people with misinformation and then using the platform of the Presidency to demonize them ... is wrong. I don't think that's a weird or controversial view and I don't think it requires you to have any particular opinion about pronouns or whatever.
