I think the worst part of the past 3 years of rebuilding my work during the rise of the far right has been seeing how many people I formerly respected decide that expecting basic, ordinary decency can be "politically controversial" as long as it's about people like me. I'm not talking about pronouns or language. I'm talking about just *basic* politeness. You don't have to be a member of Antifa or a Soros-paid protestor to know that going out of your way to be cruel on purpose is wrong.
