  Long shot...does anyone know any details about AS213802 - "tianfeng (hong kong) communications limited" AKA TFTel? We saw what looks like a crawler make a chunk of requests from IP addresses geoip'd in China (which may be inaccurate) so I checked them out... - HTTP only website - Made up or massively out of date map location - Text looks very generic (could be a poor machine translation though) All in all, they look a bit fishy. I suspect this is traffic from their customer thou...

  England Vs Argentina last night was *busy*! Easily the busiest ever live event on the BBC (I can't give you streaming stats, sorry). On my logging pipeline (subset of BBC logs): - Peak: 2.2M row/s (105GB/s) - Total: 20.1B rows (16.4TB), 2.7M log files - 0 write fails - 0 duplicated rows - Peak: 1035 Cloud Run containers @ 2x CPU each ∴ 2070 CPU Best bit is that we did precisely nothing, it all just worked. #WebStats #WorldCup #BBC

  I noticed that a *lot* of the crawlers/bots we see on www.bbc.co.uk & www.bbc.com are spoofed e.g. a "Meta" crawler coming from 10s of different small ISPs across the world (the real one comes from a Meta ASN). I deployed a change this morning which adds source ASN validation (alongside user-agent string analysis) to our "known crawlers/bots" classifier & well, the results speak for themselves.   Microsoft/GitHub should offer an easy way for enterprise orgs to fund packages/maintainers. How about something like: Enterprise orgs allocate whatever monthly/annual amount they choose & GitHub uses the package manifest files to divide that amount up based on the org pref - e.g. % based on usage or even split or a custom setup - maybe with exclusions.   Looks like www.bbc.com is now blocked in Belarus. This started around April 4th 2026 & covers the most popular (for us) ISPs in Belarus. Traffic is down ~95%. Seems to be DNS spoofing.   Google Cloud Storage now has a batch operations API. I've not used it but you basically feed it bucket name(s) and prefix(es) or object names and the operation to run and it'll go away and do it for you - apparently across "billions of objects". Super handy for e.g. adjusting permissions/metadata/compression across an existing collection.
