Because real service where you deal with your customer face to face can't accept "You are absolutely right! I have incorrectly identified you as a criminal and was about to fine you..." as a valid response. AI is not ready for all products. Certainly not products where quality matters. Maybe as clippy 2.0 or an IDE suggestion engine or a documentation reference engine. Great technology but greed is making us use it won't. #AI #LLM #UsersAreFodder #SiValleyG...

A lot of us are boycotting the world cup. Don't care about it. At all. Please tag your world cup posts so our feeds can filter them out thank you !

This is the day. I will be moving my trusty steed over to debian 13 (hopefully all the major real-world bugs have been ironed out). So far, things are going great. Hard to believe this system started on debian 7, and dist-upgrade is all I have done. This last bump might be tough though. I have been switching DEs a lot so there are a lot of warnings about files that don't exist ... fingers crossed. #debian #debian13 #debian12 #debianStable #debianMigration #software

Privacy or Security ? Too many hardware and software companies are forcing consumers to choose one or the other. This is a false choice. Choose security and they install malware that erodes your privacy. Choose privacy, and they compromise your security, which ultimately destroys your privacy anyway. An excellent investigation by Gamers Nexus. Smart devices should be banned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9uefFYe6bM #UsersAreFodder #greed #BadTechnology #EvilCompanies #LG #GamersNexus #...

What did we expect ? We are training our students for mediocrity and that is exactly what we are getting. https://futurism.com/future-society/college-critical-thinking-ai

Just blocked FIFA and world cup tags :( Probably the only sport event I have followed since I was little. They have turned it into a sad decadent cabaret for the rich. Don't care who lifts the cup, they have all lost.

I have been using aptitude since forever. Today, however, I needed to search through installed packages and remembered just how unintuitive the syntax is! A few articles deep I learnt that good old apt-get has a new API through apt and it appears to be designed for clarity and ease of use. Should I switch? Which tool do you use? If there is a specific reason besides habit I would be very curious to hear it! #debian #apt #aptitude #aptget #packageManagement #linux #software #sysadmin

1/ Looking at 2-bed rents in Cambridge/Somerville : $3.5–4k/month, 3x income requirement ! That puts you at ~$140k/year just to qualify. At that income, you could carry a mortgage on a condo in many parts of the country, and honestly, in parts of this area too. So why are we all still renting? #boston #cambridgeMA #propertyMafia #rentierIncome
