  @neil Thanks for this. How are they still getting this so wrong - the CTIRU list might sometimes be a bit of a mess, but it is at least a machine readable list of URIs, surely the sanctions list could have been piggybacked onto that existing infrastructure! BTW, your blog has mangled the dashes in the punycode into emdash/endash. RUS3052 has a couple of paths within t.me and a YouTube channel (which as you point out, an ISP is not going to be able to block, but some of us are in a position to)

  @andyprice Pretty unpleasant here last night... I might sleep in the hammock outside tonight! The humidity is pretty bad - we have a stone floor in the kitchen, which has stayed quite cool (below the dew point) and has been sopping wet.

  Really don't understand the #Google #Maps corrections process. They have my home address completely wrong. I have now submitted a correction 3 times to make it match the Royal Mail's records, and Google has rejected it 3 times...

  @neil Have you tried to use IPv6 over TOR's SOCKS5 server? I have Privoxy set up to forward to TOR over SOCKS5 and am finding that when Privoxy tries to connect to an IPv6 address TOR says the connection failed. Wondering if I have missed some config.

  @justine I don't use any (nor want to use any) banking apps on my phone. I'll stick to the web sites unless they force me onto an app, and if the app won't run on a rooted phone I'll find a new bank (TBH, forcing me to use an app at all would probably make me seriously think about switching).

  @toychicken Santander, Virgin Money and Barclays seem to have functional websites. I don't usually bank from a mobile device though. That said, Virgin are now part of Nationwide, who screwed me over 18 years ago, so...

  @vikki I've gone with Virgin, since I use them for other stuff and they don't appear to be app based. This is despite the fact that Virgin have recently become part of Nationwide, who screwed me over 18 years ago. I'm rather hoping the 2 operations remain somewhat separate!

  Why oh why is everyone switching to "passwordless logins"? "Its easier and more secure" What, you mean having to fart around finding an email with a code in is "easier" than just tapping my thumbprint to unlock my password manager? And by "more secure" you mean any attacker that gains access to my email can just log into anywhere without even having to jump through password reset hoops? #security #stupidity

  Oh well... #Santander started charging a monthly account fee on my "free business banking for life" bank account, so I'm switching to another bank. #Revolut looked interesting, offered £100 credit for opening a business account for them. They fell at the first hurdle - in order to open an account with them you need to install an #Android app which refuses to run on a #rooted phone. Time to find a different bank then.

  @aadeacon @neil I don't even think the answer is parenting. They frame the problem as "social media is bad for children", whereas the evidence is quite clear that social media is bad for *people*. The solution is therefore not to ban children from SM, but to regulate SM so it isn't so harmful to everyone.

  #GoOutdoor's warranty appears to be worthless. Bought a #tent in the end of season sale last year - £400 discounted to £127, so quite a bargain. Came with a "returns policy" card saying that faulty items returned after 28 days will be repaired. It has developed a fault, so took it back to the store. They basically told me to feck off, they don't do repairs (they offered to knock £127 off another £400 tent), and to contact the customer services email address on my receipt. 1/

  @revk @RogerBW @neil Remember, a news paper's job is not to tell you the news. Its job is to sell papers. The thing everyone thinks is their job, and their actual job, are frequently not well aligned.

  @neil @revk @RogerBW You would think that, given the numerous other (unreliable) sources of information, being a *reliable* source would be a selling point for papers! If I'm going to read the news, I want someone to have actually done a bit of unbiased research to present with it, not just report the lies that they have been told as if they were truth, or (as is often the case) tell me how wrong a politician is because what they have said happens to not fit the paper's own poli...

  @neil @revk @RogerBW Freedom of the press is important, but I tend to think that much of the press have abused their freedom. But regulating the press is a thorny subject - who could be unbiased enough to regulate the press without risk of penalising those who do not toe the government's line?
