  the thing is, calculators and television and computers DID fundamentally change what most of us are capable of. sometimes for the better, often for the worse. complaints about new “technologies” can’t be dismissed by ignoring the very real change prior mass shifts have produced in humanity 🤷‍♀️

  this is gonna sound. idk, “old” or obtuse or something. I don’t care! I have responded to the rise of LLMs by making myself type MORE of my code. Less copy-pasting, less standard autocomplete. You’ll never believe this: I can remember things better, and understand them more deeply!

  reminder that in many countries, you don’t have to “do” your taxes. the govt just sends you a bill or a check, because they already know what you owe / are owed. the united states also knows the balance. as a corporate state, they make us dance and squirm to charge us for “relief”

  struck anew at how a fundamental premise of ai boosterism is: you are literally not allowed to disagree. it’s either, “you need to try it again,“ or, “get over it, the squirrel is out of the tree.” Anyone who likes AI can NOT permit the idea that someone else has valid concerns.
