Reposting with #AltText, because y'all keep posting and boosting without making things accessible. Trans lives intersect with disability in many ways, and both cis and trans folk with a vision impairment deserve to see this just as much as everybody else. Resistance without accessibility is bullshit ๐ฎ Trans women are women, trans men are men, and between and around the two is a rich tapestry of intersex, non-binary and other gender diverse folk. All of us deserve to live whole, wholesome...

OK, when I did this at the end of November, only 17 people voted, which means they could have conceivably conspired against my personal favourite, so here it is again, for you to boost widely, and favourite profusely, helping to put this brand new instance on the map; THE BEST LOOKING POWER MACINTOSH G4 IS;

I have a friend in southern Sweden (Blekinge county) who finds themselves in a bind; they have a growing disability, due to an injury, that results in them having increasing trouble taking care of themselves. Their child, a young adult, will eventually want to move out, leaving them without help. Their insurance apparently refuses to cover them due to a pre-existing condition, which is apparently a thing in Sweden? I am too far away to be of useful, local assistance, especially since I don&...

Since I keep seeing developers use โprettyโ IP addresses like โ1.2.3.4โ in example configurations; a reminder that you MUST NOT use publicly routable addresses that you do not control in your code. Instead, use one of the available 'TEST-NET' IPv4 or IPv6 ranges documented in RFC 6890; 192.0.2.0/24 198.51.100.0/24 203.0.113.0/24 โ 1.2.3.4 โ 192.0.2.4 and for IPv6; โ 2001:db8::/32 Pass it on to all of your fellow developers, documentation writers, and so forth. Another reason to not use Proton, folks; "Privacy-focused email provider Proton Mail provided Swiss authorities with payment data that the FBI then used to determine who was allegedly behind an anonymous account affiliated with the Stop Cop City movement in Atlanta, according to a court record reviewed by 404 Media." https://www.404media.co/proton-mail-helped-fbi-unmask-anonymous-stop-cop-city-protestor/ Previously, from just over a year ago; https://theintercept.com/2025/0...

"One in 10 parking fines issued as a result of scans made by cars using automatic number plate recognition systems is unjustified, privacy watchdog Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP) has calculated." "The cars tot up between 250 million and 375 million scans a year, resulting in three to five million fines. In 500,000, or 10%, of the cases, the technology gets it wrong, the AP found, following a study of local council data." "Contesting a fine is labo...

"If 2025 was the year of AI adoption, 2026 is when AI evolves from a software story to a people story. Katya Laviolette, our Chief People Officer, explored this idea in a recent Forbes article about how 1Passwordโs internal network of AI Champions is shaping this evolution and helping us set the standard for how we use AI to drive impact across 1Password." Looks like it may be time to start looking for another password manager ๐ Fuck you and your AI 'champions&#39...

I despise YouTube auto-dubbing with the heat of at least a dozen suns, in no small part because they do it automatically, and don't allow you to turn it off ๐ฎ

I figured I should make this into a poster. A4 size, but can easily be scaled to fit onto Letter size, for you non-standard Americans out there. Reuse encouraged, public domain! #AltText #Accessibility

I need more good heist movies, but I think I have seen most of them. Anyone got any recommendations for recent heist movies in the vein of the Ocean's movies, Casa de Papel (which Netflix so boringly renamed 'Money Heist'), Now You See Me, and so forth, with a good ensemble cast?

Once again encountered a situation in which the speaking out about a thing is considered more problematic than the thing, because it makes the person who did the thing uncomfortable. So fucking tired of that, especially in supposedly safe spaces that are merely 'safe' because the uncomfortable conversations are suppressed or shunted to the side with reasons like 'politics' and whatnot. So, once again, for the white people in the back; impact over intent, always....

Thinking about how one of the signs that online community is just as valid as any offline community is that we build shared moments of joy that are predictable, and recurring. They might seem silly to the untrained eye of an external observer, but they are deeply meaningful expressions of our humanity at a time where so many things want to tear that down. So please, continue doing the thing. It is much appreciated, even if we don't always realise just how much until we have to do withou...
