Well it was quite the day for wildlife here in far north Queensland :) I stayed at Etty Bay and was rewarded with a 15 min cassowary promenade passing FirstDogonTheMoon's excellent sign and also kind of doing an Abbey Road (Etty Road?) After a drive up the very scenic ranges to Yungaburra I saw a platypus swimming around for approx 30 min. I didn't try to take photos, I just admired how they are so water adapted that with all the swimming and diving not once did I see a splash, the wat...

I scour opp shops and hard waste for these open wire office waste bins. My garden is mainly self sown so if I see something interesting coming up I can quickly cover it so I don't stand on it and the wildlife doesn't dig it up. I also have more open ones so the bees can get in #gardening #Sustainability

The car needed a run so off I tootled to Seawinds Garden then swung by Mornington for a scallop pie 😋 Autumn colours included what looked like a pine or fir tree with yellowing needles, creating a shimmering effect as the sun shone on them. The gum trees were looking beautiful and did not need autumn leaves to attract me Not sure if the thing growing out of the ground is a mushroom/fungus/other but it was joining in the autumn theme #Melbourne #Naarm #Autumn #trees #nature #fungus

Magpies learn in sentences. Also, I think I've heard them at the "babble" stage https://birdlife.org.au/news/young-western-magpies-learn-sentences-like-human-toddlers/?utm_campaign=enews-2026-april&utm_medium=Pardot&utm_source=email #magpies #Australia #birds

The Bald Archies exhibition is in Mansfield and well worth seeing with minimal crowds. I caught the Vline coach from Melbourne and enjoyed the green countryside without the hassle and expense of driving #Mansfield #Victoria #Art #PublicTransport

One of the great things about being back on my bike is I can go foraging. I knew of a fig tree hanging over the back fence of a factory but it was too far away to walk and awkward to drive. Most of the figs aren't fully ripe so I put olive oil over the fruit end. Any other tips for ripening/softening figs? #cycling #figs #Melbourne #Naarm #foraging
