  I’m experimenting with kitchen windowsill gardening, inspired by childhood cress growing. This is two handfuls of Bigga dried marrowfat peas, scattered 7 days ago on a few layers of wet kitchen roll. I’m hoping they’ll all do enough growing to let me get a handful or two of pea sprouts to mix into my salad. #ShezzaSprouts

  I’ve topped up the soil levels in the two original #ShezzaSpuds bags, and planted the chitted Blues in the third and final bag. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with them all. Like last year, these aren’t specially bought seed potatoes, just leftovers from groceries that were starting to sprout.

  My brother rescued a bee from the hall and gave it a drink in the back garden. He says it was very thirsty. Which is a good reminder to have an insect drinking station in your garden. A shallow dish filled with stones, and then the water poured to a level below the top of the stones will let insects drink in safety.

  Spent a large chunk of today lifting the old carpet and underlay in the living-dining room, in preparation for tomorrow’s theoretical new carpet fitting. I say “theoretical” because this is the third attempt. The first was scuppered by delivery to NI delays, the second because the holiday cover guy mistakenly booked it for Easter Monday. Keep everything crossed for us, Fediverse. None of us are enjoying the concrete floor and the jumbled house.

  I met a couple of old work mates for a catch up yesterday evening and had a fab old blether. The venue was a newish restaurant in the city centre none of had been to before. My review: I didn’t finish the risotto, my ears are still ringing from the noise levels, and the bench seating was fixed so close to the table there was hardly room to breathe.

  Had a video call today, a rare thing in these post Office Job days, so I thought I’d put on some makeup. Another rare thing. I’ve been using an eyebrow pencil to fill in the grey bits on my eyebrows cos they were looking so patchy. But recently bought an eyebrow gel to try, thinking it would be easier and also tame my Denis Healy hairs. Swiped it on today, and immediately went “oh fuck”. You’d’ve thought someone drew on my face with charcoal. Only bought the wrong fecking colour, didn’t I 🥸
