I may have a problem. Meet Samantha. My new to me 1935 Singer 15. I have a 6 month wait before my Featherweight gets it paint job, and I realized I was really going to miss have a good vintage straight stitch machine that can handle light weight silks. I tried to get my other vintage machines up and running, but my treadle is having tension issues and my hands crank is missing a 120 year old bobbin case. I'm mid project and don't have time for servicing. Found some who restores and s...

Not feeling so hot today. The cats were happy to oblige with plenty of cuddles. #CatsOfMastodon

It's poppy season right now in California. There is something magical about California poppies. How their petals delicately bend and twist, refusing perfection, moving throughout the day. The way the light hits them, how they glow in the sunlight. This year I had a pink rimmed one sprout up. #SilentSunday #NoLawn #BloomScrolling

Selling Girl Scout cookies in Sonoma this morning. People watching the day drinkers, cough, people going wine tasting, is fun. Especially the parties of young women dressed to the 9s but trying real hard not to be too obvious. Bar hopping but it's fancy.

.I did not expect healing a shoulder injury would have the impact it did in my sewing. Am suffering from an impinged shoulder. It hurts to move it in very specific ways. Treating with mild physical therapy. Already feeling loads better, my range of motion returning. I've added a "no slouching" device to my routine to stop the underlying cause - slouching and rolling my shoulders forward while I work. My posture is improving. But the sewing consequences: In only a we...

I'm super proud of the kiddo this morning. Really stepping up with dad being sick. This morning, she made her dad tea, and coffee. And is putting the dishes away. Without being asked. She had never made coffee before. Yesterday, she got annoyed with me that I was only planning to let her make half of our meals for the week. What ever it is that hubby has, starting to get worried. This is day 6, and hexs been to the doctor and the ER. Negative flu, covid RSV. Antibiotics were in...

Gavin Newsom's responses to Trump's dyslexia bullying warms my heart. I'm glad it is putting Newsom's challenges out there for public consumption. To give speeches he studies, he doesn't read a teleprompter. So he is unscripted, unlike most politicians. What is really crazy? It is almost certain that Trump is dyslexic as well. Just untreated, undiagnosed. #dyslexia

A new void is in the house. Kiddo has decided to name her Nyx, after the Greek goddess of the night. Daughter of Chaos, Mother of Doom and Death. And snuggles. #CatsOfMastodon #Cats #BlackCat

Cat advice needed! Trooper, 12M here has been fur pulling. It's nerves, not allergies. Always the same side. Been working with his vet, and are getting close to having to give him anxiety meds. He pulls when home alone. Walking in the door after being out for the day and we are greeted with fur piles. If he thinks he is home alone he starts this horribly anxious crying. I am thinking about getting him a friend is better than meds. A friend so he isn't alone when we aren&#...

My cocktail dress for kiddo's school event is turning out to be much more dainty than was in my head. Unfortunately the lace isn't symmetrical along the center line so I can't quite pattern match the V. Juuuuuuust similar enough that I keep forgetting and fighting with it. Am doing lace shaping so the pieces will be narrow in the front, widening toward the back. #sewing #CocktailDress

Beadwork is finished! The second image is closer to the true red of the velvet. I did go with the center sunburst, but I tweaked the layout so it felt less crowded, which did the trick. Next on to the pattern drafting! #sewing #BeadWork #embroidery #SineWaveGown
