  I've been interested in Framework's offerings, and have been exploring configurations. Their new announcements have made me painfully aware of their non "pro" offerings, like the non aluminum shells, or one piece keyboard and trackpad options. I've largely missed the early batches. Question for those in the know, how good are these standard parts? Are they still pretty solid or is it worth holding out for a later batch of the newer versions? #FrameworkLaptop #framework

  @bluegreenandfree It's open source from what I understand. It's end to end encrypted, which means even if the company wanted to view your photos, they couldn't. And if you don't trust them, you can self host your own instance. Though at that point you could go with Immich.

  I know it's a meme at this point but I love how different shutting down Linux is when compared to Windows. With Linux I hit "Shutdown" and it's immediately dead. Like no hesitation, it throws itself off the cliff. With Windows it's a soft suggestion, like "sure, I'll think on it." then passively encourages other apps to close, which they may or may not do. "Oh well, this app didn't want to close. I give up&amp...

  @mcn@social.lol Most phones have magsafe cases you can buy for them. It doesn't solve your problem directly, but it's a workaround.

  @bluegreenandfree@mastodon.energy Immich isn't E2E encrypted, but when you control your own data then that eliminates the biggest attack vectors. I use Tailscale to take my home network with me when I'm out of the house, that way I don't have to set up port forwarding or DNS records and thus exposing it to the internet. In all it was pretty easy to set up, if you're handy with a computer and can follow instructions.

  @nomenloony@nomenloony.com I've been running the game on Steam Deck at a stable 30 for a year now. They released an update this week that optimizes the game to run at 60. I now see where those optimizations were inherited from. 😄
