@Doony I had a similar experience many moons ago, needing to pick up a relative flying in from Oz. Woke up, checked Teletext (remember that?) using the TV remote beside the bed, discovered the flight was delayed by several hours and went straight back to sleep, feeling very smug!

Can I just point out (from experience) that it might also be a good idea to take a jumper when flying from the UK to Australia in Summer. Also, even without travelling it&#39;s a good idea to have a jumper with you in Melbourne when the wind changes from northerly (2000 miles of desert) to southerly (straight from Antarctica) at which time the temperature can drop 20 ℃ in 20 minutes.

In their lifetimes they've already had to completely change the way they make phone calls, send letters, get news, shop, use transport, cook meals...multiple times. They resist unnecessary change because they're sick of it, not because they can't cope. I take my hat off to them. I'm becoming one of them.

@pheonix@hachyderm.io Agreed. "Special" characters in particular cause *so* many problems. They can appear in different places on different keyboards for a start, which can be a real problem when typing "blind" in a recovery console from a non-US keyboard. And most (all?) of them are "forbidden" in some context somewhere, sometimes with disastrous security consequences. Lookalike characters as well cause huge problems. Anything memorable is almost guaranteed to als...
