Can I just point out (from experience) that it might also be a good idea to take a jumper when flying from the UK to Australia in Summer. Also, even without travelling it's a good idea to have a jumper with you in Melbourne when the wind changes from northerly (2000 miles of desert) to southerly (straight from Antarctica) at which time the temperature can drop 20 ℃ in 20 minutes.
