I am left with a sense of impending doom deep in my gut. My brain says relax, but... Not one bird, no evidence of any bird on this morning's walk. No sight. No sound. Nothing. I could hear the damn cars, so I didn't go deaf. No crows, no robins, no chickadees, no pigeons, no gulls. None of even the most common. ๐ It should be hopping during the early morning hours. This is awful.๐ข #Birds #Nature

#3GoodThings Cool summer mornings with brilliant sun Had another root beer ice lolly, made by Chapman's, Canadian. Almost certain I haven't bought anything made in USA since. On an anywhere but the USA streak, first priority buying Canadian where possible. Discovered Canadian products are much better, Putter's Pickles for example. Wish I'd always done it. How long has that been? Since November 2024?

#3GoodThings 1. It was an extraordinarily beautiful morning for my walk. Everything all fresh and green after a couple of days of rain. Brilliant sunshine. 19ยฐC. Nice breeze. 2. All the deer on the lawn enjoying the lovely morning 2 does, 1 young buck and 3 fawns. Extra soft spot for the little spotted fawns. 3. Found 2 photos of my โค๏ธ parents that I thought I lost. Headshots I'd taken years ago. New frames today, going to put them up tomorrow.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. ~Margaret Mead Love this quote, but sometimes concerned that it applies equally to 'change for the better' and 'change for the worse.' Thinking oilygarchs and orange turds & associates. I'm sure they've put a lot of thought into changing the world. #Nature #ClimateCollapse #ClimateChange

#3GoodThings 1. Long weekend, I always forget about this one. It's New Brunswick Day on Monday. Just an excuse to have a holiday in August. Works for me. I think every province in Canada has one, just a different name. We have the prettiest flag. 2. Orcas. Specially since they've taken to trying to eviscerate yachts. So pretty, so elegant, so intelligent, so deadly. 3. Artists. Good reminder today. See youtu.be/DbTrMwhw47o

#3GoodThings 1. Mango ginger stilton cheese. Delicious stuff! How much cheese is too much cheese to eat?๐ง 2. Not having to go shopping. Once a quarter is enough. 3. Basil. An abundance of basil. Wasn't confident the seeds would sprout so I sowed a lot of basil. They all grew. Only 1 kale plant grew, but all the basil. ๐ I have 8 pots of happy, thriving basil. Maybe 5 pots too many. Thank goodness for pesto.

#3GoodThings 1. Hearing birds calling at night. Seems unusual, beautiful and a little haunting. 2. Quiet day. Peaceful. 3. Officially full moon. It's beautiful!

#3GoodThings 1. Gazing at an almost full moon through the trees while listening to an audiobook when it's too hot to do anything else. 2. Food. Today it would be mushrooms that were meant for supper but somehow got eaten straight from the frying pan. Ooops. 3. New quote, not sure of the source "Do what you can, while you can." which is a bit of a cousin to "Do what you can with what you have, where you are."

#3GoodThings 1. Almost full moon shining down on 2 deer lounging on the lawn on a warm, still evening. โค๏ธ Peaceful haven for the little wild things. 2. Summer evenings. 3. Discovering a new-to-me author I really like, who has written more than the one novel I just read - Vigdis Hjorth, Norway. Just finished Will and Testament, saving the next one, Repetition, for #WIT August. Very difficult to not just jump right in. Restraint. Temptation. Self-discipline.

August, next week already(!), is Women In Translation Month. Books written by women which are translated into English. It's a lot of fun, because it opens a window into very different worlds. Not only getting the woman's pov, to help balance against the traditionally male pov skew in literature, but getting a peek into what life is like in another country, with different traditions, different food... This utuber has some great recs. #WIT #Books https://youtu.be/MQ9pmd4ztT0

#3GoodThings 1. Books, in all the forms. I have paper books, ebooks and audiobooks on the go at the mo. It's amazing if you grew up before internet became 'ordinary.' Web 2.0 2. Learning about Twilight. Civil Twilight. Nautical Twilight. Astronomical Twilight. Another fun rabbit hole. 3. A big one - kindness, particularly intelligent, thoughtful kindness, but even the brief, small gesture kindness is a very good thing.

There's little book libraries, stick libraries, key chain libraries in neighbourhoods, this is the first coffee mug little library I've heard of.... Great idea, everyone has too many coffee mugs. They seem to reproduce in the cupboard. #Coffee #CoffeeMugLibrary #Riverview #NewBrunwick #Canada https://youtu.be/rSJKzEjjuN0

#3GoodThings 1. Neighbourhood walks on pleasantly warm evenings. 2. Crows. Today, my crows started the usual hallelujah chorus when I showed up with peanuts. Two crows descended quickly and started carrying off peanuts. One youngster sat up in the tree and hollered. Then followed Mom & Dad to where they were stashing peanuts.๐ฅ ๐ฅ ๐ฅ ๐ฅ ๐ฅ โค๏ธ And so the next generation learns the peanut lady routine. :crow_heart: 3. My Mastodon people. ๐

#3GoodThings 1. Miso soup, and it's getting better every day. Good addition to breakfast menu, especially with mushrooms. 2. Checking those small, procrastinated chores off the list. It requires a mood, the right mood to do fussy, annoying little adulting chores. A rare mood.๐ 3. Basil seeds turning into basil plants, edible basil plants. Smart little seeds knowing to do that. Now there's 6 (or more) pots of basil - a couple of them need to find another home. ๐ฟ ๐ฟ๐ฟ ๐ฟ ๐ฟ ๐ฟ

Finally! The first Hydrangea sock is finished. Pleased with it. It's all due to the yarn, but I do like the little fake cable rib. Edit: Credit where credit is due - Yarn is Lichen and Lace, merino and nylon, from Sackville, N.B. Colour is Hydrangea. It's so soft! lichenandlace.com #Knitting #SockKnitting

#3GoodThings 1. Root Beer Lollies 2. Discovering the details of Civil Twilight, Nautical Twilight, and Astronomical Twilight. Very cool, because Dawn, Dusk, Twilight, whichever we want to call it, are my fav times of day. 3. Although I'm not a professional sports fan, Spain has outdone themselves in World Cup, both the women's team and the men's team. They played excellent matches.

When there's wildfires in the US, Canada helps. Canadian Army helps rescue stranded campers in Minnesota. That would be in the US. When there's wildfires in Canada, US threatens... tariffs(?) That's the humongous difference between the US and Canada. #Canada https://youtu.be/_dj99o9vcdk

#3GoodThings Edamame Edition 1. The colour - it's my favourite colour. 2. It requires playing with your food. My Inner-Six-Year-Old loves squeezing the little beans out of the pods. 3. They're very tasty and very nutritious. What's not to love?

#3GoodThings 1. 18ยฐC 2. Miso soup added to breakfast routine, understandable why it's a regular part of Japanese breakfasts 3. Browsing through Libby, "hmmm, what will I read next?" So many books, so little time. A person cannot live long enough to read all the books, which is a good thing.

Why do people think they can outrun wildlife, particularly the big ones? Although, even a squirrel is faster than a human. People who spend their lives in the seated position (couch, car, desk chair) thinking they can outrun animals that depend on rapid mobility for survival. #Nature

#3GoodThings 1. A new tub of miso 2. Baby deer gamboling on the lawn. Delicate little spotted fawns experimenting with very long legs.โค๏ธ They are so cute! 3. Tofu, which has gone from "What's that stuff!?" to a fav wonderfood. What can't you do with tofu?
