"Is that some kinda fancy licker..." "sure is". Have we done that play on words before? Probably. Oh well. Have a comedy Skye photie to distract from.... well everything. #BorderCollie #DogsOfMastodon #Scotland

Why is everything so complicated? Me to organisation: "I have no need of my account, please delete it" Them: "No."... "we want to retain your name and DOB".... "because we say so". Sister wants me to arrange a care home for Dad, from 500 miles away, when she lives with him. And so on. And then I wonder why I feel so stressed and brain fried.

On Friday the ford across the Abhainn Loch na h-Oidhche was very low so we were able to get across the stepping stones with dry toes. At least I did. Someone went and stood in the river, obvs. #BorderCollie #DogsOfMastodon #Scotland

Well, the most important job this morning is done... My Bear, Blue, had a hole appearing in a seam. So just a bit of minor surgery to stitch that up and check him over for any others. He's a bit fragile now being at least 60 years old.

Just like "flying ant day" there appears to be "car club day": that is when all the car clubs around the UK suddenly leave their hibernation and resume racing around the NC500 and other wee roads. Easily a couple of dozen groups seen just between Slatterdale and Garve.

Thursday night's sunset was a cracker! We headed into the tent soon after as it was getting cold and we were both dog tired(!). Wasn't a great sleep but being among the mountains was absolutely awesome. #Sunset #BorderCollie #Wildcamp #Scotland

On Thursday last week we took a long walk from Poolewe to the remote eastern end of Fionn Loch. Backed by the Munros of A' Mhaighdean, Ruadh Stac Mòr, as well as the Corbett of Beinn Lair, it's a fantastic spot. I was hoping to go up Beinn Lair but the legs just sad "no". TBH once camp was setup I was happy to just chill there. Skye had plenty of paddles in both Fionn and Dubh lochs. The sunset was awesome... #BorderCollie #DogsOfMastodon #Scotland

Isle of Skye people... How much Gaelic is spoken routinely? Do you know place names by the English name: e.g. Portree, or Port Righ? And especially where the names are vastly different (like Dingwall on the mainland is Inbhir Pheofharain) which is the most used? Are some areas vastly different? Thanks #Gaelic #Gaidhlig #Skye #Scotland

We've been out a few times in the last couple of weeks, but was hiding from the weather in the woods. I didn't feel inspired to take same-y photos in the dull and grey. So here's a better photo from early March on the way to Lochan Fada. #BorderCollie #DogsOfMastodon #Scotland

In some ways I like seeing what my Garmin watch thought of my sleep. Sometimes it's interesting, amusing maybe and sometimes just wrong. Last night was scored 83/100: "Good". Except I forced myself awake from a nightmare involving Skye. Was dreaming earlier too where I woke having thought I heard a door slam in the house. And I've felt absolutely brain dead and shite all morning. So much for Good.

The other day we had a long walk from Poolewe to the jetty on Fionn Loch. Weather forecast said it was going to be sunny... but as per usual it wasn't. And there was a bitterly cold wind over the bogs and beside the loch. #BorderCollie #DogsOfMastodon #ScottishHighlands

We got out yesterday for stroll in the sunshine after the previous day's rain and before the forecast rain in the afternoon. The Loch Glascarnoch track isn't the most exciting or longest walk, but it has views, and no burns in spate to cross. So... reliable. #BorderCollie #DogsOfMastodon #Scotland

Today we had a little outing to Loch Maree. Some chilling out happened, reading was achieved, and a bit of walking. Of course, Skye had a paddle or two in the loch. #ScottishHighlands

Yesterday we walked the track on the far side of Loch Glascarnoch to the Vaich Hydro power station, and was chased back out by a snow shower coming over the Beinn Dearg range. #Hiking #DogsOfMastodon #Scotland
