Isle of Skye people...
How much Gaelic is spoken routinely?
Do you know place names by the English name: e.g. Portree, or Port Righ?
And especially where the names are vastly different (like Dingwall on the mainland is Inbhir Pheofharain) which is the most used?
Are some areas vastly different?

@outdoorsbeth I can't speak for the Sgitheanaich but when I was last up with the family 7 years ago, I spoke Gaelic to a lot of young folk who worked in cafes and shops. The folk who owned the croft spoke Gaelic with each other too. Was quite encouraging. Shame that's not the case for Lewis.
