My approach to #rstats environments: once a year or once every year-and-a-half I install a new version of R, so I install all the packages again. That's my new environment.

Thinking of how insanely complicated we have made using computer languages. I'm particularly thinking of low-barrier scripting languages in the late 1990s (Perl, Python, Javascript, R, ...). Very few people use Perl today, Python and Javascript are dependencies dumpster fires, and R is likely the easiest to install and maintain these days. Programming feels broken.

I&#39;m almost sure that the first LP I ever bought was Van Halen&#39;s &#39;Women and Children First&#39; in December 1980. I was visiting Chile and I went to a music shop in Providencia (Circus, perhaps?). I was between this album and Iron Maiden (1980), because I loved the latter&#39;s LP graphic.
