  I did this over a year ago and have never once regretted it: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/08/enough-is-enough-i-dumped-googles-worsening-search-for-kagi/ Dropping #Google search for #Kagi made me actually efficient using web search again. It's not that I don't use LLM web searches where appropriate but now I have a choice again, and my search provider is paid for by me, not by companies looking for my attention.

  I want to note, though, that even with all of this enthusiasm, the PSF is still not as funded as it would have been if they’d compromised their mission and taken the bestringed money offered by the NSF. This is good energy, to get grassroots funding to happen, but we *need* corporate sponsorships to step up commensurate with how much they gain from the Python ecosystem. The developer in question is bemoaning Codeberg's uptime, but seems not to understand that they already have their source fully accessible. Several respondents in that HN thread, too, seem to think that they're working with SVN or something. It's really weird.
