#3GoodThings: 1) A female hummingbird, feeding from one of my hyssop flowers, about 4 feet from where I was standing 2) A fledgeling cowbird following its sparrow “parent” around (saw this on the dog walk at 6am today — we have to get out early to avoid the heat) 3) While I was watering the hanging baskets, and not looking where I was putting my feet, my ankle knocked into something warm and furry… a baby bunny! Don’t know who was more surprised. Anyway, it’s now hiding under the porch 😆

Great… not. The sky has turned orange from Canadian wildfire smoke, and my TemTop air quality monitor is showing >100ug/m^3 of PM2.5 in the back yard vs 8 in the living room, where we are running an air purifier. Forecast is for >300 outside tomorrow. I just turned off the ERV, because its filter can’t cope with that level of pollution. The worry is Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) which need carbon filters or similar to take them out: MERV 12+ aren’t enough. Ref: https://theconversa...
