I keep reading the same thing in article after article about #charliekirk — &quot;all of us were forced to see the horrible video on #SocialMedia whether we wanted to or not&quot;. Not to be too smug about it but no, not all of us, right? Because I&#39;m on #Mastodon I didn&#39;t get auto-playing videos of Kirk&#39;s shooting brought to me by an algorithm which decided it was &quot;popular&quot;.

I truly enjoyed “A Song for a New Day” by Sarah Pinsker (@sarahpinsker), more than anything else I&#39;ve read for a long time. The setup might *sound* a little clichéd—a future in which live concerts are outlawed—but it&#39;s anything but that. I would call it a rock-and-roll “Station Eleven” or a musical take on “Fahrenheit 451”—maybe an upbeat echo of Ling Ma’s “Severance” but any of those would be too trite.
