There are a *lot* of things that make sense if you think about them for two seconds -- but not if you think about them for eight seconds. Take the extra time.

An observation: When an issue arises for discussion, some people will have strong or even extreme opinions. Also, there will be people who will be more vociferous in their opinions. (These are often the same people.) Conversely, some will have more balanced or nuanced views, or won't want to decide right away. And there will be those who are naturally quieter or more hesitant to voice an opinion. (Again, these are often the same people.) 1/

The recent researching finding amino acids, nucleobases, and such on asteroids is certainly fascinating, but I'm a little puzzled. Space rocks are being suggested as a source for the building blocks of life on Earth. But is Earth not a space rock too? If these compounds can occur naturally on asteroids, why would we assume they couldn't also occur naturally on Earth? #astronomy #astrobiology

The povray.org website is partially disconnected from the Internet. From their announcement, packets outgoing from them are getting black-holed by Comcast (IIUC). They haven't reported a response from Comcast since March 14. If you're having trouble getting to #povray, or have an "in" at #Comcast, see details below. "povray.org and related sites unreachable to parts of the internet" https://www.povray.org/news/index.php#340 #networking

In D&D, one of the defined actions a character can take is Help -- assist another character in some way, to make success more likely. *But* it has to be something where a second person can reasonably assist. Having two people trying to pick a lock, for example, won't increase the chances of success. This is a good metaphor for parallel computing. Can two threads grab the ends of a task and lift it together, or does the task require the focused concentration of an individual? #D...
