Dangit. This &quot;trying to be kinder to myself&quot; thing is killing a lot of perfectly-good self-deprecating jokes. As well as some jokes that might be self-deprecating but I&#39;m actually not sure if they are so I overthink them into oblivion. And now I&#39;m wondering if *that* counts, but I&#39;ve already typed it out so screw it.

So I played a clip of an owl hooting for my roommate to give him an idea of what I heard for literally hours last night, and then afterwards the actual owl started hooting in the distance. I&#39;m pretty sure it&#39;s a coincidence, but there&#39;s a part of me wondering if I accidentally got its attention. I mean, I&#39;m indoors and it sounds like it&#39;s a good distance away tonight, so odds are it was hooting before and I just didn&#39;t notice until I started think...

I&#39;m reaching the point where I might have to explain to a couple of people that I have enough trouble finding the time and energy to engage with friends I like, let alone annoying dickheads who demand attention out of boredom.

Fuck fuck fuck. I had a decent enough day, a minor but correctable setback aside, and I even dared to let myself go an hour or two without agonizing over the shit hand I&#39;ve been playing the last couple of years. And then my computer spontaneously broke. Fucking wonderful.

While I fully endorse the classic &quot;don&#39;t worry about your awful first draft because nobody&#39;s going to see it anyways&quot; writing advice, I admittedly don&#39;t find it as helpful because of how rarely anyone seems to notice my posted/published finals.
