Looking for recipes that include both lentils and uncooked yogurt. (It turns out if you suddenly start eating lots of beans, your guts have to adjust... >.> So, trying to help things along with probiotics.) #Food #cooking

Booked an Airbnb for Wellycon. It's in Wellington, paid for in NZD out of my bank account that is also in NZD. Come the time that the bill was due, surprise! International transaction fee! It turns out that overseas processing of transactions now come with this fee regardless of currency used, at least at Kiwibank. I don't suppose someone wants to start an NZ-only equivalent to Airbnb that works like TradeMe...?

Today a cyclist came up from behind me and rang their bell! So now that's a 0.01% bell ringing rate for cyclists passing me from behind, and a 99.99% bell ringing rate when I'm the cyclist. Only 99.98% more to go before other cyclists are even!

It's becoming more often that I walk into a shop in Nelson and the entire staff pretend I don't exist. And clearly don't want to be stuck helping me with anything if they can help it. I did not miss this at all about the southeastern U.S. and wish it hadn't followed me here. #racism

Tried to get a covid shot today and the pharmacy nurse wouldn't do it because of the new annual guidance... where can I point to something that says we can still request a 6-monthly?

#eqnz First time I've actually felt an earthquake in this house. Then I came here to confirm that it was one, before anyone else including the bot started posting about it, and was weirded out for a few minutes "if that wasn't an earthquake wtf was it?" And then everyone else finally said something (whew!).

This morning's 3am bright idea: home hydro! We have options for residential solar and wind power already, so why not also hydro? Rain falls from the sky onto your roof, then flows into the gutters, then down a drainpipe to the ground and on into the stormwater system. What if we put a bunch of tiny spinny wheels inside the drainpipe? Think of all the electricity we could generate during all those once-in-a-century tropical storms that have started hitting us multiple times a year! I gu...

Roofers here to fixthe leak that I reported two months ago. They didn't bring their own electricity and have tools plugged into the house. This is reasonable grounds to pay $10 less rent when it's next due, right?

Just tried to make some phone calls and got dead silence. I guess they've turned off 3G. Hopefully I won't have any emergencies while away from wifi anytime soon. >.>

I find myself in possession of a solar panel. It has a plug outlet that is round with two round holes in it. Does anyone have any idea whether this connector has a name, and/or what I could plug this into (other than the out-of-production system it originally belonged to)? #solar #solarpanels #solarpunk #electricity #offgrid #helpmethinkofbetterhashtags

#tusky when I scroll, the screen sometimes now jumps. It looks exactly like what happens while scrolling on Facebook etc when the app suddenly loads up a new picture (ad :p) above where you're looking. Please make it stop.

RE: https://mastodon.nz/@zkarj/116077858996346512 I actually have the opposite problem to this. I am considering buying a car, after not having one since I sold my last one right before leaving the U.S. The main reason I need a car is to get a full driver's license, which requires a car to practice in and test in. I've already figured out that it needs to be an automatic (so my spouse's car is out). (No I can't just rent a car because they don't let peop...

Yesterday the power company sent notice that electricity will become more expensive in April. Is there such a thing as a class action lawsuit here? I would like to accuse the gentailers of extortion. How would I do that?
